Botswana and Victoria Falls
Air Safari Honeymoon

12 Days

Explore "undiscovered" southern Africa, from the prolific game haunts of South Africa and Botswana to tranquil Zimbabwe and the Zambezi River.  Chartered aircraft whisk travelers from one unique destination to another.  Using small chartered aircraft allows fast and easy access to places that would otherwise require long hours of driving along dusty, bumpy roads.

Entering Botswana you feel as though you have gone back a hundred years to share the discovery of a truly virgin Africa as Livingstone and Stanley once did. Botswana is a land of contrasts, ranging from the arid desert to the fertile flood plain to the rich game reserves of Moremi Game Reserve.

Fly to Maun, Botswana and then on to Eagle Island Camp. Regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful camps, Eagle Island Camp awaits you deep within the Okavango Delta, a rich swampland that supports an incredible variety of plants and wildlife. One of the area’s most pristine natural locations, it lies on the banks of the Boro Channel just south of Chief’s Island. Unspoiled and remote, the camp is shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees offering the perfect retreat from the blazing African heat. As the sun begins to dip into the horizon, the camp’s sunset cruiser takes you on a magnificent journey through the delta. You can enjoy the birds, watch elephants bathing and mammoth hippos emerging from the water before you return to the base. There you are welcomed with a wonderful candlelight dinner served under the stars.

Your next stop is the luxurious Khwai River Lodge. Surrounded by indigenous Leadwood and fig trees, your accommodations at the Khwai River Lodge are among the most distinguished safari lodges in all of Botswana. A charter flight will bring you to this magical location. The exquisite natural habitat of Khwai makes it a regular host to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dogs. Early morning and late afternoon game drives take advantage of ideal conditions for viewing the wildlife. We set out in open four-wheel-drive vehicles and also take walking tours led by the experienced team of guides. Night drives and stargazing presentations are conducted after dinner.

On to the Savute Elephant Camp. Perched on the former banks of the now dry Savute Channel, the Savute Elephant Camp is often referred to as the “elephant capital of the world,” offering a spectacular bird’s-eye view of elephants in their natural environment with an adjacent watering hole just meters away from the camp’s main building. Activities include daily game drives in open vehicles and game viewing from a number of great hiding spots. Delight in the culinary pleasures to be found here as well. The Savute offers a dining experience second to none, including dining in the boma within the heart of a true “bush” environment.

Next stop Victoria Falls. Visit to the Livingstone Museum, the country’s biggest and oldest museum, dating back to the 1930’s. In addition to exhibitions on human evolution, the period of British rule and subsequent independence, the museum also houses a large collection of David Livingstone memorabilia, donated by the Livingstone family. Afterwards, we’ll make a special stop at the Maramba Cultural Center, an authentic tribal village to get a firsthand sense of traditional village life. A well-marked and paved path is your invitation to explore the nearby rainforest environs. Your stay in Livingstone will cap your adventure as you explore beautiful Victoria Falls. Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “the Smoke that Thunders,” Victoria Falls offers a spectacular sight of awe inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River. As you relax on the sundeck of the five-star Royal Livingstone Hotel, overlooking the forest and the Zambezi, rainbows fill the air, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. Enjoy a thrilling a helicopter ride above the falls for a spectacular end to this extraordinary journey.

Return to Johannesburg and then home to the USA. Bid farewell to Africa and a most remarkable honeymoon, one you'll remember for the rest of your life.
